I have a dent or 2 and a big scratch in my rear right quarter panel. If i pop them out they will most likely be crimpled by the looks of them now. So I figured a slightly used quarter panel from a junker would be cheaper at $125 then popping and painting.
My problem is can I do it myself. This isnt a skill question, its a where the heck does it seperate from the hood. It looks like the left and right quarter panels are connected by the entire roof. So I guess you would break it off, weld the new one in and prime it... Come to think of it after typing this out.. it would probably cost more now wouldn't it.
Hmm, what do you guys think about this?

It involves a lot of work. Not something you want to just jump into blind. there are a ton of spot welds that need to be drilled out and then you need to section the sail panel. Ive replaced a few on some cars and the work is rather involved. best bet is to try and take the dents out and then if that doesnt work start to consider getting a new quarter panel and have a shop you trust do the work.
that's a big jobs! The paint work alone will cost you more. if you did change the quarter you would have to paint your door jam, under the back bumper and blend inside the hatch opening, rocker, roof, back bumper and door to match the colour. the back bumper must also come off and some of the trim inside the car.
Honestly how big is this dent? If you are that skilled, magna spot weld it and if you have a frame rack do a bunch of the welds and pull or if you dont, you can still do it this method without haveing a frame rack...it will just take more time.
