Professional Wax Machines
I was looking around a local auto store today and noticed that they had a Chamberlain Maxmaster electric waxer. The last time I waxed my car by hand it took me almost three hours to buff it all off, so I'm thinking it might be worth getting something like this to cut down on the time. Has anyone had any expierence using one of these electric waxers before? I'm not really sure how good of a job it would do (it costs around $49 I think)...is there a better wax machine than this out there that someone would recommend?
Also, I remember reading a post somewhere which mentioned that Meguier's Gold wax was some of the best stuff to use. I'll prolly pick some of this up and try it out, but which would be better to use with a waxer, the liquid or the paste? Or does it not really matter at all...

If you are not familar with the devices...get an orbital buffer rather than a rotary. Rotary units can burn through your paint and clear coat if you are not careful, orbial units WILL do this but you would have to park it in one spot.
Orbital polishers/wax removers usually start at $19.99 for the cheap ones and go up over $100.... You get what you pay for to a certian extext. A decent unit should set you back about $30 to $70 bucks.
You wax should NOT be that hard to remove. I suggest you let it dry longer...or switch waxes...

...Or if you love your car, bite the bullet and do it all by hand. I tried a rotary buffer on my tibby once...

...once...never again. First of all, the damn thing used almost a quarter bottle on the hood. The moment I saw it start leaving swirl marks, I took it back. Of course, I am the ONLY one who notices the once swirl mark on the upper right portion of the hood (I stopped after that), but that's all that matters. Sure, it takes me about two hours to wax and buff my car, but I have no problem with it. smile.gif

I just bought an orbital buffer. I'll never buff by hand again! When you buy one make sure you buy a decent sized one. Don't get anything smaller than 10" or you're better off doing it by hand. Mind you because of the tibs styling you'll have to do some by hand in the hard to reach areas. wink.gif
And yes either go with Meguirs or Mothers!

I have purchased almost every brand of wax and I'm still trying to find one I love more than any other. I currently am trying the Emerarld Turtle wax but someone recommended the top-line Mothers brand. I still buff manually, even with the hard stuff.
Thats what I have been using, the top level Turtle Wax Emerald Series. I think I'm going to give the Meguier's a try next time and see how that comes out.
Are there any big difference between the paste and liquid waxes? Does one work better with a wax machine or are they both pretty much the same?

Any one tried www.topoftheline.com ?
I gave up my waxing machine for this stuff. Faster and better! One side affect is my car smells like grape.

I am using an electric orbital 10" buffer for $30 at home depot. Its great but I put the wax on by hand then just buff off using the buffer. I am using the Eagle ONe Wet series wax. Personally I think its the best wax I've used. Also the Eagle One Wet series tire shine is great.
Well, when I asked the local shop which was best, they said Meguires was the best and the Emerald Turtle was second. And I have tried them all. Turtle, Emerald Turle, Eagle One, Simoniz, you name it. I use only liquid. I have not noticed a difference between the paste and the liquid but I may be wrong.
As for the tires...I have been using that coool glitter tire gel. The glitter doesn't last more than a day or two but the black tires last for weeks, way better than the foam spray.
