Default Need Everyone's Thoughts On My Paint Job.....

Zup everyone! Okay as most of you know, I'm trying to get my Tibby to the point of absolutely no return. Complete wild and custom mods done in order to make it a true head turner, show winner, and hopefully magazine covered vehicle...as well as keeping it my daily driver.

Anyway, some of oyu know about how I'm repainting the car PPG Chamaleon. Chameleon comes in 2 types. You have the blue/green/purple change, and there's the orange/red/violet change. Well, I just bought a gallon of the orange/red/violet, which now means I have a gallon of BOTH types. I was thinking about painting from the rear of the car to the middle of the door with the orange/red/violet, and from there to the front of the car with the blue/green/purple.

We are now talking about the car changing a total of 6-8 different shades of colors in the sun/angles. Does anyone here think that this will not look right? Should I stick to the one or will going with both types be even more original? I havn't made up my mind yet, and I can send the paint back to the Hot Rod shop I used to work for (they'll use it without any problems)

I'm also having thoughts on my interior. Right now, alot of parts are white, and I'm either thinking about doing the whole inside white (like Long's car) and getting the seats done in red leather...OR I might use any left over Chamaleon paint to do the whole dashboard. Since the dashboard isn't 100% smooth, I might take out the entire thing, bondo over the whole thing and smooth it out. Then paint it so it looks like a shiny piece of the car.

Any idea's that you, the members can give me, will much appreciated. Just try and keep it somewhat logical. No crazy stuff like putting monster truck wheels and tires on the car with the air suspension! *ha ha* tongue.gif

I would stick with one color and not both I personally would think that it would look more like a screw up to the average person and not something that would drop some jaws. I would just stick with one color of chamaleon which one is up to you. They would both look sharp. I am in the process of getting my tib a new custom paint job right now couple coats of black metallic paint with metalic flacks it's going to sparkle like crazy in the light. As for the dash whatever color you choose to do the outside do your dash the other color that might look sweet, like I said just a thought.

Tiburon Elite....What color flake are you going with on the black? Are you gonna use micro flake, or jumbo flake? On a black car, I would seriously think about using micro. The jumbo flake looks a little out of place on a dark colored ride.

I've done chrome micro flake, and red micro flake on black cars before. The red was a little harder to see, but really looked cool when you were close. The chrome really shined and you were able to see it from a distance. Also, people sometimes go overboard when mixing the flake with their clear coat. Be sure to use small amounts in each layer of clear you do. Usually 2-3 coats of clear with a quarter of the flake tube on each coat, is just enough to make your car stand out. Anymore, and you start to get into the lowrider class...the ones who make sure every square inch of their vehicle is covered in flake! rolleyes.gif *ha ha* Thanx for the advice though...I might do the outside with the orange/red/violet, and the interior with the other. Still gotta debate on it.

Is it possible to mix it together? Or paint it over each other to get both color shifts? Just a thought.

I like the Front/back idea. However...There is more "Front" area to paint than "back" area to paint, so the "line" between the 2 paint jobs would be about the middle of the door! If you have enought paint to move the line to the back of the door, and use the natural body seam as a divider...then it would be cool.

You could also try 50/50 divided down the middle...or do the whole car in one color. then do Stripes/flames in the other color...

I would also consider replacing your hood with a unit with a hood scoop or something to break up the lines of the hood before you spray. Even if you go with a CF hood...I would add a scoop/vent or something.

Lo&show I was going to use a micro chrome flake in a few weeks after i have time to save some money, and yeah I was only going to have two coats put on. Right now all I'm doing is my zefrio hood and side markers, all my emblems have been shaved off. I'm finishing it all off with a solid black metallic I mean this metallic is as metallic as they come. I'll post soem pic's after I pick it up on Thursday.

I kinda dig Random's idea on painting the car one colour and addin' flames and stripe or some odd sick design in the other colour. *shrug*

How about painting it the BLue/Green/Purple the whole car with the Orange/Red/Violet in either ghost flames or a BIG ghost Hyundai symbol similiar to the APC Tib on each door? That would look badass I think.
