What's this? Kia Stuff??
I have been putting this off for awhile, I finally got the nerve today. I was really thinking it would be alot of work, but it really wasn't. I did this to my 2001 Kia Sephia. What do you think?
DIY:
1. Remove headlight assembly by removing two bolts and gently pulling towards you. (assuming you are in front of the car)
2. Undo wiring harnesses.
3. Go inside to the air conditioning.
4. Remove four black screws from back of assembly.
5. With a hairdryer set on hot and high, thoroughly go around the top seam for about 4 minutes.
6. With a thin flat head screwdriver, work it through the top seam, you should start to notice some seperation.
7. Repeat 5 and 6 on the bottom.
8. Go back to the top side and see if it is all loose enough to seperate the lens from the gray part of the assembly.
9. If it doesn't seperate, repeat 5,6, and 7 until it does.
10. Remove two chrome screws from the chrome part of the lens.
11. Gently pull up on the outer corner of the chrome part, pulling it out of the lens.
12. Remove the orange reflector. (Note: this should be the proper way to make clear corners for your Sephia, not breaking it the Ghetto mod way!
)
13. Tape off any parts of the chrome you do not want painted, ie. Corner light area.
14. With red scotch pad, roughen up all of the chrome area you want painted.
15. Paint away, I used flat black.
16. After paint is dry, assemble light.
17. After it is all back together, use your hairdryer to soften the glue again, to promote adhesion.
18. Use clear silicone/RTV to plug up any parts of the seam you couldn't get closed properly.
19. Install light assembly back into your vehicle.
20. Drink a beer!

I plan on doing this to my gen1 tibby, but I plan on painting them white to match the car.
Looks good, and nice write up!
i did it with carbon fiber vinyl before. looked pretty hot. but for some reason i didn't like it to much after a while. kinda messes up the way our headlights look. white would look nice though on your car.
