if you can find a good, hand held orbital sander, it will save hours off the work you have to do. Some even come with/have accessories so you can wax/polish with them.

right now im using a disc sander attachment for my drill, its all fine and dandy until you get close to where you need to be, then its all hand sanding anyway.

Nogo, the mouse is pretty good for detailing stuff, not good for fast removal. The crappy sanding pads are the limitations of it though

you name the power tool brand, and they will probably have an orbital sander.

Home and Wrecker (black and decker)
Ryobi
Dewalt
Crafstman even has one

The limitations on them are due to the style you get. The "hand and a half" models like this.

are sorta hard to get into tight spaces and use at odd angles, but usually have more power to them.

The smaller, "one handers" like this

Are easier to work with for detail stuff due to their better manuverability.

If you can get one with variable speed, that is a big plus, but they are usally more expensive. You can get a "cheap" B&D sander for about $29.99, or a really good variable speed dewalt for over $100 (with case)

I'm not a fan of the "square" or "rectangular" orbital sanders, just my personal preference.

One really cool one is the Crafstman "3d" sander.

It's limitations are it's slow speed (only 2600 OPM vs up to 13,000 for some of the more powerful units) and it's very small surface sanding area. Those three little discs are spring loaded so you can sand irregular shapes much easier without leaving flat spots like you would with a square/rectangular sander, or even a round sander. But again, it's slow, and not much sanding surface area.

Do an internet search on "orbital sander" and you'll find more sanders than KFC.

or go to www.bobvilla.com and do a search on tools. You'll find tools you didn't even know existed there!

I am a huge fan of Porter-Cable tools. If want a kick-*** sander you can't go wrong with this:
