I want to re-tint my windows. At first I need to take my old tint from the windows.

I called some shops and they told me that after removing tint from the rear window deffroster may be broken (broken lines on glass).

How to remove it safely?

Would a hairdryer do it, by trying to warm the addesive under the tint then peel it back,
i've removed tint from my ride , i'd pick at a corner then start to warm it with an hairdryer and peel, i found the best way to peel it off without leaving any traces is to take the top and bottom corners from onr side of the car and instead of just pulling it off, as you pull, pull it across the window at as lower level as you can more or less have your hands on the window, am i making sense as i've had a 60's cigarette, if you know what i meen wink1.gif
Alsoo is it me or does some of this post sound sorta like a porno script lmao.gif

Maybe itzme, maybe it isn't, what you talking about, what?? what you talking about, what you meen , what am i talking about?? oh forget it. forget what???

see what i meen 439.gif

I to would like to know a safe way because my back window has an odd bubble formed.(looks like a long narrow bubble) Not exactly sure how it got like that since no other tint is bubbling.

omg man, you're in for a pain in the ass.

what happens is that the film does not come off with the adhesive. so when you take off the film, the adhesive stays on. you need to scrape it off, but you cant just go all ove the place iwth a razorblade becuase you will cut the defroster lines.

what i did is get most off with a razorblade, and then take a green scrub brush kitchen-type thing and some adhesive remover and scrubbed the rest off.

it sucks, takes a long time, and you will have little adhesive balls fall all over the floor of your hatch.

ya you have to be very careful as those lines can be broken fairly easily and then only part of your defrost may work. i would think that if you used a hair dryer you would effectively be able to get most of the adhesive but some more work will probably be required. jsut be careful. sounds like a scrub brush would work good. very tedious but thats really the only option

I've seen kits or something on tv that'll repair rear defroster lines. It's basicaly a conductive paint and a stencile to help keep it straight. As for the adhesive; after I took the old tint off of my last car I used some stuff called "Goof Off". It worked great. Just make sure you have the windows open or you'll be really high by the time you're done. Good luck.

is it possible that defroster lines would come of with paint?
I've heard some bad storries with cheap Taiwan tint.
