im going to be looking to paint my car here with tax return. i really want to keep the cost around 1000-1500 but i was told by a friend that a nice job starts around 2k. just wondering what you guys have paid for your jobs. i'm planning to take all the body panels off the car as i'm replacing the doors/hatch/skirts/fenders/hood/bumpers at the same time. gonna put my turby kit back on this new car.
hoping to get it back to this condition (every thread is better with pics right?) but its gonna be black this time round cause i'm not trying to change colors on the new car just get it back to oem

Just to confirm, this isn't a color change respray?
Afaik, resprays can't really have a fixed price. If you want to prep the car yourself (removing panels, taping things up etc) you can save a ton of cash, but other than that it really depends on how good you want the job to be.
I can't help you on the actual price though, I've never had to have a respray so I don't have a ballpark figure for ya.

I went from Stock Hyundai White to Stock Hyundai White (i.e. exact same color). I paid $1,500 (this was 10 years ago) and it was not enough. They did a crappy job. If anyone quotes you less than $2,000, Im not going to say they won't do a great job, I'm going to suggest you get some solid references/see some of that painters prevous work, and find out how much they paid. There's no point in showing you an awesome paint job and a great reference...if he charged that guy $5,000.
Personally, If I ever have a car painted again, I'm going to want something in writing that says they will do it again and again/fix any problems until customer is satisfied, and they will be charged $50-$100 a day for each day the project goes over, also, you only pay for PAINT/MATERIAL up front. Labor is paid when the car is done. NEVER Pay the full amount up front.
They were late on this, late on that...and finally I told em, I was going to put a big sign in the spot my car SHOULD have been in @ the car show, and say it was due to ^&*%$# Auto Paint & Body not getting the job done on time. (Deal was I got a cut rate on the job and I would rep their shop to anyone who admired the car). When I got my car out of the paint shop, it had paint drips (not clear coat, PAINT that actually dripped down the side sills under the door) areas where they didn't' tape off properly and there was over spray, clear coat was really bad in places.. etc. The problem was, my car was due to be in a show within a week of their due date. In the end, they got it done the day BEFORE the show...did a horrible job. With all the above mentioned problems, and refused to fix any of it...they had their money and told me to take a hike. That I was more trouble as a customer than they wanted. I told em I'd still do the promotion stuff if they would fix the car, but they refused. In the end, I still "promoted" their shop. I always showed showed off the paint flaws/mistakes to anyone who admired the car and told them who did the shitty paint job and made sure they never took their business there. I did such and awesome job "promoting" them and they did such crappy work on other cars/repairs they were closed within the year.
Get everything in writing...including a customer satisfaction statement line.
Don't pay 100% up front.
Set a deadline date, and add a clause that for every day they are late/you are unsatisified, they pay you $50 or $100 a day. In reality, it just makes the paint job cheaper for you, but it also prevents them from just saying "screw it" once the job is free. They will still owe you $50-$100 a day until they return your car to you in a satisfactory condition. It will very quickly become cheaper for them to fix your car than to ignore you, or wait for you to sue them. They don't even need to keep your car the entire time. As long as you are unhappy with the work they have done...and they refuse to fix it...they still owe you the per day rate.

In Canada, I paid $3500 for a full paint job (matching OEM colour) when I installed my body kit on my original Tib. So in the USA I would expect to pay $2500-$3000 for a respectable job. To get a really good job here it is over $5000.
if your looking for a factory type paint job and just have panels that need painted along with a respray. (not a complete color change) then just take your car to a collision repair center. admire or dislike their work as they usually can put out at least one car a day or at most two. (at least in my area) if you are satisfied ask them to make you a quote and see about scheduling. in my area collision shops do great work, especially if they know someone is expecting it. they also stay on schedule in a majority of cases.
Last time i had something painted my uncle hit a fence with his pass door on his truck. he ended up paying 800 for paint and body work and its was only one side. it had a fade to blend the paint with existing.
im gonna say 1500-2500 for a full spray and other parts to be painted on their backsides as well.
im going to recommend Monroe's frame and collision since your in ohio they might have one close to you. seems like it may be to far looking on there site
