How to evaluate quality of detailing work received?
I want to get some protective layers for the summer.
The place I want to get detailed at wants $150 for full cleaning - interior with carpet shampoo and leather treatment, exterior wax, paint correction, etc.
How do I evaluate their quality of work once I get the car back? Just park it in the sun and stare at it? Any way to evaluate the quality of protective coating they put on?
Best I can think of is just find a halogen light and look for spider webs and orange peel... any other methods?

You will need:
1 can of hairspray
1 cerated blade knives
2 cans of paint stripper
You take the hairspray and put it on your paint. Then take the cerated blade knives and scrape the hairspray off gently. If it flakes off, then the wax is good. If it sticks, then more wax should be applied immediately. If more wax is needed, you should use the paint stripper to remove all wax from the vehicle before you bring it back... These instructions are good for today (1 april 2011) only.
Any other day, you should run your hand across it and see if it feels very slick, or if it feels like there is any resistance. If there is any resistance, you should ask them to clay bar it before waxing.. Waxing is not something you get done once.. A good shiney hand wax lasts a month. It's something that you need to keep up. You don't really inspect a wax job other then making sure it's not just holding in dirt and that the entire car was done.
