many old engish cars used a locking hinge mechanism..
you could also look into the struts from an bmw e36 (91 to 99) 3 series. The ones that hold the hood up on my bimmer are very short and it does not take much pressure to get them to close.
In reality, the pressure against your hood is all in the movement ratio. If you can get the strut to lay perfect flat or even at a light downward angle when the hood is close, it will exert no pressure on the carbon fibre. If the body mount is higher than the hood mount when closed, it may even help to keep the hood closed.
