Default hood spacers

ok i was just curious about this since someone said it actually helped alot. and since the 1st gens dont have a nice vented cf hood (that i like) i wanted to see if it would work.

well i went to lowes and bought some new screws and nuts and put them on. now looking at all the other pics of the cars that have done it....

they only did it about .5" higher then normal. in doing that it really doesnt help. the back of the hood is still there blocking the air from coming out. so i dont understand why would you do it.

so then i just added some more nuts and made it about 1" higher in the back. now there is enough room for all the air to come out. doenst look that great but i can tell its helping a little.

if anyone really wants it then just go to lowes/home depot. i spent $2.49 w/o tax on the pieces. i guess its an improvemnt and ima leave it like this to see if it really helps. at least until they come out with a really nice cf hood.

I thought it was just a style type thing that worked as well as those electric superchargers on ebay. I think it looks cool though.

dont get me wrong. it works. but you have to have it higher then what everyone else is doing it to actually have a good outcome.

well i have the zefiro on a first gen and HVE 4-1 headers(ceramic coated) and if i turn the AC on for more than 3-4 mins my engine temp drops down almost completely to the COLD marker. kinda scares me but i dont know if there is anything bad with the car running too cold. sorry if this went off_topi

whoa...that shouldnt happen. when the ac turns on the car should actually run hotter. it takes more energy for the engine to blow cold air.

thats why if your ever over heating you should turn on the heater. which takes the hot air out of the engine.

should get that checked bud.

It's funny how people will spend $20 or more to buy the same thing that you can get at your hardware store like Long. wink

He did something like that. If you notice the hood is not completely flush with the body.

I don't think that its this high off though.

Holy small-wheels-on-the-green-tib, Batman! eek!

Anyway...I'm not too crazy about the hood spacers. It looks like you got into an accident or something, and the hood doesn't fit anymore. dunno
