Well I got a cf hood off ebay, the oem style (i like it the best) and well the latch looks like it wouldnt hold a twig to the car.... Yes I know hod pins are rice, and I think they take away from the looks of the hood, but I wanna know do you think i should get some? If I do, I think I will get ones with gold posts and the circle thing... Because it would go along with the rims I got.

Ugh.

If you are going to put on hood pins, put on GOOD hood pins.

Ask KB5133 about the ones we put on his car.

Or get these.

They are for safety, not looks, and you seem to be one of the only folks that I've met on here that realizes that.

When my car gets bodywork/repainted, I'll be getting those in the link on my hood.

i would get the aero hood pins.. they are much sleeker, and they are black, so they wouldn't take much away from the looks of the hood.

ok big red.. thats creepy as hell.. we did not only recommend the SAME hood pins at the SAME time, but the pic posted on SFR is the EXACT pic i linked from the manufacturers site. lol

though, with the erebuni hood hood pins are not neccesary.. it has the best latch out of any hood i have seen. i had it on my car for 4 years, without pins and never had a single issue.

if you get hood pins, get the locking type that appear to be flush to the hood. The key goes into the hole, so it doesn't have those ugly pins sticking up out of the hood.

Why do you need hood pins? I thought all CF hoods for our cars had a pretty good latch, haven't heard of any problems so far.

wow... 3 replies all in the same minute...

what they posted above would work good.
This is what I was talking about:

Hahah! Those are the ones we put on Keiths' car. Only difference is, the ones we put on his have the RECEIVER pins with an adjustable head to make up for the angle of the hood.

For sure creepy.

My hood latch is perfect, but at high speeds, I do get some hood vibration. I'm going to put pins on, non locking ones (my latch will be my lock), for peace of mind.

Ya the adjustable receiver head makes the install so much easier and it was hard enough as it was.
Those other hood pins that Socks and Jere said are hot, but I'd be worried that you'd have to be careful with the placement on certain hoods so that it would sit flush. Our hood don't have many flats spots on them. The pins we installed are probably 2.5" in diameter and don't seal flush on the hood until you tighten them down. Hard. That's what the rubber gaskets for. I don't think you'd be able to do the same with that design.

And if I didn't say it before, thank you to Red Z and ABQ for the help. Well ABQ for the help and Redz for the comic reflief.

Nope, the lockign ones we posted will work fine, as long as you get the ones that have an ADUSTABLE RECEIVER on the receptical end.

you buy cheap, you get what you get.

As for the Aero ones, they will fit any hood, there are plenty of areas flat enough on ours, and remember, this has holes all the way around it to attach TO the hood, this will hold it flush.

They've got pics on Aerocatch's site of them installed on many hoods.

We aren't the only cars with curves on their hoods.

Keith, I did try to help, but if you remember, I wasn't feeling too well right around then.

LOL

Besides, you can only fit one fat and one skinny bastard under that corner of the hood at once.
