Got Into An Accident(minor)
well a few weeks ago i got into an accidnet and smashed the passenger fender. what should i do? buy the ebay thing where they paint parts to match or do take it to a shop. i went to one today and they said it would 500 to install a new one and paunt and then blend it in to the door. does it really have to be blended in? that 500 wasnt including the fender itself
$500 just to install and paint a fender seems kinda high to me. You should be able to find it cheaper in my opinion.
I would suggest blending... when you see front bumpers or doors that aren't exactly matching, it looks TACKY and nasty. I would definitely get it blended, meaning that it should be blended in with the door, hood, and front bumper.

whoa 500. shyt.. i got a guy who will do a whole car for 800 here.. smile.gif
anyway.. ull want it blended a lil bit, otherwise it might not match right.. i have had seperate parts painted at diff. times, and it was fine, but with red, u might not be as lucky.. look for another shop.. u should be able to get junkyard good condition fender, painted, and installed for under 200-300 bucks..

^^500 was installed and painted.
just do the install yourself. you can do it!! I did mine, never got it painted though. the fender and door are off a 99 so it's a little different color than my car.

Or you could buy the passenger's side fender I have laying around for cheap, and then just have it painted and throw it on yourself wink1.gif Seriously I have a blue one if you need it.
On the blue tib I had the driver's side fender and wing painted (I bought sparticus' GTR wing and got it painted and stuck it on so I could send the shark spoiler to blacktibs) separately and you could hardly tell..I did it right before I sold it so I didn't want to do the blending because the quote I got was around the 500 range as well, and I wanted to spend as little as possible. IMO, if the guy matches the colors good and you have a car which still has fairly new paint (you have an 01 so I assume the paint is still shiney), I don't think you'll notice it not being blended. It's mostly noticable on light colors like silver.
Here's what I did..
I went and bought the paint/clear which cost roughly $100
I also bought the fender which I got on ebay
Took the fender to a small, reputable shop in town, and the guy painted the wing and the fender for $200 cash (so $100 a piece). He mounted the fender but wouldn't mount the wing because it didn't line up perfectly with the holes the shark wing had..but that wasn't very hard to do myself.
Also, it was cheaper because I told him not to paint the inner fender, I just had him throw on a little sealer so it wouldn't rust on whoever was gonna buy my tib.
Anyway, your total cost should be like $100 for painting/mounting, $100 for paint/clear, and however much you can get a fender for.

well my real question is. how important is blending? i can get a fender painted to match by paint code. and then just put it on myself. im just worried it wont match up... thats my real question. do i really need to pay for blending?
Like I said, I didn't notice it on the blue tib. But then again, I didn't really care either because I was selling it. Also, that blue is a much darker color than your red.
