Frying (aftermarket) Headlight bulbs
Well, to be more specific, the neg end of the harness on both headlights fry after some time. "Pitch black burned to a crisp" fried (sometimes fusing the plastic piece of the bulb to the harness). I thought the material of stock harnesses weren't strong enough to handle the extra heat generated by my whopping 85watts rolleyes.gif however about 5 months ago i used Nokya heavy @SS duty harnesses and today i noticed a blown bulb. Yeah, more than just a blown bulb, the stupid crap melted.. AGAIN. My God what will work with Nokya's if their OWN freakin harnesses melt?
However, i did notice that it was only the neg side that burned beyond belief. The side that was still working was about to die but i guess wasn't melted to that point..yet. I've never noticed the origin of the melting (neg. side) 'cause the last 5 billion sets were pretty much cremated as a whole. I guess this high-temp material in these heavy duty harness were good for something. Now i'm thinking something is wrong with my '97 Tib. Bad ground? Something is 'causing extremely high current on the neg side of this harness and my God, i used Nokya brand harnesses with Nokya brand bulbs (85w). So what the heck?????
suicide
EDIT: btw, the filiment inside the bulb is completely intact, no damage. So it isn't the bulb thats failing. I even got the same results with 60watt bulbs (didn't use nokya harness though but i doubt anything would've changed).

I don't know if this will help but I know that APC has an aftermarket wiring harness. I don't know how well it works but I am planning on putting 110watt bulbs in my car eventually and the APC wiring harnesses are supposed to handle that much juice. You can pick them up in the "rice" section of Advance Auto Parts or Pepboys or where ever. Hope that helps.

Well, you might wanna do a little search, we often discuss the problem with headlights on this forum (The tib seems to burn ALOT of them for some reason, especially the passenger side), and I'd suggest you take it in to the dealer. Even if you are over your warranty, show them what's going on and tell them you've got a phucked up car and want it fixed. If they won't help, Random has before suggested folks call Hyundai Customer Service and talk to them about the problem. Or even email crooked H directly and explain the situation.
I smell something funny. Get it fixed free.
