Factory Door Hinges
Hello,
I bought a used 2000 tibby with Lambo doors. Well, I knew the door install was crappy but never thought it would fall off 02.gif Yesterday, I was opening the passenger door and the thing dropped down. it seems to be still hinged to something but if I don't hold it, the other side of the door would touch the ground! I closed the door for now and it locks fine but I can't open it without it falling down.
So, now I am looking for factory door hinges. Any ideas where can I get them?? How much would they cost for parts and labor??
Thanks in advance!

Don't you think it would be easier to just fix the current hinge? How are yours put on? To the fender? You could probably reweld it, and reinforce it so it is stronger than before. Take some pics, some people here will help you.
ive got a set of factory on my car if you dont want to mess wth them. also post pics so people can see whats wrong with them.
if you are gonna get rid of them give me a pm.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies. Well...I am not brave enough to work on exterior body parts. I'll try to take the pictures. If I open the passenger side, its a big hassle to close it again.
If someone can install factory hinges on my car, I can give them the lambo doors for free. Both drivers side and passenger (which ofcourse would need to be fixed). Just got married and my wife is too jealous when girls give me the look when I open the door :-)
The guy whom I bought the car from had said this kit was bolt on so you can easily re-install the factory hinges back if you want to. Well..."easy" is a relative term.
PM me if you want to. I live in New Brunswick NJ and will be moving to Branchburg NJ this week.
Thanks

Hello!
Finally took some pictures of the doors. Think i'll need better pictures of the mechanism for you guys to help me. Will do that but for now here they are..

Busted passenger door. The hole for nut bolt seems to be a clue

Love the cobalt blue color fing02.gif
Get a new bolt for it. It would be hella expensive to get those off and stock ones on. You should really just fix what you have. Take it to a welding shop and ask them if they can repair it for you.

It looks like the bottom part of the shock which is connected to the kit via a ball socket joint is busted. I have the bolt with rounded head (the ball) but the socket which should be on the shock is missing.
To give you an idea..
Here is a generic picture I found on net

See the part labelled "C". Thats the part. The socket is missing. It should be screwed to the shock.
I took it to a shop which installs these things and he offered me to put a new kit smile.gif Took it to a body shop and he had no idea.
- I don't know what kit it is. Are these shocks generic? Can I buy them at stores?
- can I just buy the ball socket? the ball screws into the kit and socket into the shock.

I might be interested in doing a swap with you and put them on my car if i can fix them. I have a 2001, so no worries on fitment. Hit me up via pm if your interested and i'll meet you somewhere and take a look at it in person and see what we can do. I'm in Riverside, which is only about an hour south of you.

It's not a shock, from the look of it; it's a gas-charged piston that pushes. One of those pushed the passenger seat and two for the liftgate on my old Dodge Ramcharger, and there are two on my Buick Terraza to lift the back gate also. Do you have to pull the door down just a little bit to get it to close, and it opens itself fairly readily?
If you can get it off, or get a good look at it, you might be able to find a replacement for
