Dull Headlights
I am having a problem. I have a hard time driving at night because my headlights are not very bright. Even when I turn the high beams on, they throw the light a "little" further.
I have tried the stock bulbs and 2 different Xenon/White bulbs to no avail.
I was wondering if there were any bright bulbs or aftermarket headlamps that I could get.
Or even perhaps another years headlamps would fit. Such as a 2003 Elantra's because my brother has this car and I don't have any problem seeing at night when driving his car.

Few questions for you...
First, have you had the car since new?
Second, what are the headlight lenses made of? Plastic or Glass?
Third, are they yellowish, like sunburnt? Badly pitted by rocks and stuff?
You can see where I'm getting with this, if your car is an older model (I've got a 93 Excel that the headlights are getting VERY bad on) the lenses can get really nasty, REALLY quick.
Best bet would be to take a good look at the headlight lenses, and if they are bad get some plastic polishing compound and try it. If that doesn't work, you really may want to get ahold of the junkyards locally and try to find a new set, or look online.

He's got a 1997 Elantra, so I'm assuming the outter plastic is yellowed/pitted/scrached.
Take a good look at the front of your headlights in the daytime. Are they yellowed from UV rays? Are they pitted and scratched? If so, you can try to attack them with plastic polish to remove some of it, but it won't ALL come off. Your only solution is new head lights if that doesn't work.
You can try to get "cleaner" headlights from a junkyard, but that is going to be a very "hit and miss" kind of thing. If they have your year headlights, they might be just as bad, or worse than yours are, or they might bet better. You can try to pick up a "new" set from the dealer, but be prepared to spend about $200 each. www.stcharlesauto.com has them a tad cheaper, but still about $175. Try emailing shark racing. They can get Korean Spec OEM Hyundai lights for about $180-$200 for the pair. They will NOT be DOT legal, as they will be korean spec lights not DOT approved North American spec lights, but they will be "new" and "bright".

Do you have a picture of the Korean Spec OEM Hyundai ones? I would be interested in those if they work better than the ones I have.
If they are not DOT legal, that may be a problem, but a minor one.

They "look" just like yours, just "clearer". The only difference is the light pattern they throw, and that wouldn't be visible in a photograph of the headlamp itself.Do you have a picture of the Korean Spec OEM Hyundai ones?

Have you guys seen the ones shown in the pictures of the Zefiro body kit (http://www.sharkracing.com/ex/hyunda...ro-avante.html) someone told me that they were custom made. Does anybody know who makes them? I will like to have them on my black car.
Those are hot lights!!!
If they only made them... rolleyes.gif
I have a 2000 elantra...is it really the outside plastic? I always thought it was the inside with dust or something...it looks cloudy from the inside is that possible?

If your headlights are yellowed and hazy I can clear them up considerably alot and that is just not polishing them. I have done several dozen headlights and people have been hsppy with the results.
