No, the paint code shows what paint mixture was used to paint your car. Hence the code. The code is there so you can easily match it. If you check out that site, they have all the codes for all OEM paints there, including *GASP*! Hyundai's.
I'm just saying that 2 people mixing identical paints with identical codes will come out slightly different.
In order to make cobalt blue it takes -430-43green blue, -430-45clean magenta, -430-30fine aluminum??, -430-54purple pearl, -430-47blue mica and whatever binder they use in speciffic quantaties. Even by machine, it's quite a feat to mix that many colors in a perfect quantity unless the machine is constantly calibrated, cleaned and maintained. Fading is also a factor, but that's not what i was talking about.
Well if you are just doing a quick and easy paint job, heres my 2 cents worth. I would go to an auto paint store get a car match they can put it in a arasol can, buy a cheap $4 plastic can attachment that has a pistol grip on it and kinda makes it look like an actual paint gun. hang your item up (if possible) make sure there is no dust in the garage on where ever ( i have even gone as far as wetting the floor with a hose to keep the dust from kicking up) then just sparay it with many LIGHT coats. also shake the hell out of the can before starting. Shake it until you think its ready then ad another 2 minutes..lol.. i have found that when getting paint made up for this that it sometimes has a hard time mixing at first... I did my buddies civic body kit cause he was planning on getting the entire car repainted in about 6 months so we bought the paint installed the kit and spray painted it..Looks awesome..that was a year and a half ago..still has gotten painted and looks great. Good Luck post pics when your done if your happy with the look...

and how do expect a dealer can get it any better?
I didn't say a dealer. I said a professional. Any old paint shop can mix the paint, let some dry, check the paint for color matching, modify the paint, retest the paint, it goes on and on.. Eventually you get a perfect match, but not the first time usually.
Regardless, he's not concerned with an exact match so it's not a big deal.
I had both of my spoilers painted "cobalt blue" Hyundai 2001 paint code LE within 2 months at different shops in different parts of the country.... You can tell the difference if you look very closely between the car, the RD2 spoiler and the ATH roof spoiler.
It honestly sounds like your splitting hairs or your work was done poorly. Ive painted my shark wing and rear bumper, Ive had my hatch, evo hood, and doors done professionally and I have yet to notice a difference in the colors.
^ It'll be harder to match metallic paints but RedZ's car is just solid black.
Consider also that with light bouncing off of all the curves & undulations on the Tib's body, you generally see more than one shade or colour from most angles anyway.
