Im thinking about adding a front air splitter below my bumper but Im not about to pay $300+ for a carbon fiber one. Do youguys think it would look ok if I bought a piece of aluminum, wrapped it with some good CF vinyl, and added it to the car? I think that project would probably be more around $20-30. I can buy the connectors for $10 on ebay. Thoughts?

I think if you want it only for appearance, you should do whatever you want because you are the only one who will ever care what it looks like. If it looks horrible, you're out $30 no big deal.
Better to spend $30 on a DIY splitter that may end up getting all scratched up from pot holes or inclines, versus paying $300+ for a real CF one that might get ruined by the same thing.
Buy one that has been R&D'd so you know it's functional. Why would you make a fake spoiler that is probably not functional? That's like carrying around a plastic pistol for protection because it's cheaper.

Its appearance, not function. Who cares.
If you want to wrap aluminum in CF Shelf paper...go for it. Just keep in mind, every time you scrape it, you'll be peeling off your shelf paper and showing the raw aluminum. So why not just have an aluminum splitter?
You really think spoilers are for looks? Guess my point is invalid if that's the case.

might as well go all out and try this:

Then to answer the op's question, no it will not look okay. If rice is your thing then go for it I guess, but the rice look would be incomplete without a fart can and bench spoiler from pep-boys. You can always make those yourself too.

No one here is adding a splitter to the front of their car for more front end grip through the corners or for better fuel economy. They are doing for looks. Because that's what they like.
Deal with it or leave. Those are your only 2 options.
He said:
..and I provided mine. Why are you arguing with me about my thoughts when the OP clearly asked for them?
...and what makes you think the OP will only be driving at street legal speeds? Do people install turbos for street legal speeds?
Not trying to argue with you dude or cause trouble. The guy asked for my thoughts and I gave them, that's all.

Yes, it is. Because you missed the other part of that statement "at street legal speeds"
