Different Rear-end Ideas
Hey!
I was just playing around with a few different ideas on how to sort out the Coupe's rear end.
I'm seriously considering getting one of those knock-off 2-pillared Shark Spoilers on ebay ($400 odd in my money) but what do you guys think about these alternatives?
1. Molded King rear pods with "diffuser" area painted black. No spoiler.

2. Same but with the section in between the tails painted black.

3. As above but with a tiny spoiler that I'd have custom made from ABS (they use them on Bimmers, etc...).

4. With the small spoiler but without the section between the tails painted.

i would so help you out on the shark spoiler if i had a second one, just to make you happy. but i don't, if i find one i will send it to someone who can on a business license or maybe you have a friend in the military. that spoiler comes in a huge box.
i'd say forget painting anything, tint the lights and that's it. where can you get a king bumper? if you can, i'd go for that.

I voted #1, because I like the clean look, but it was between 1 and 4..... Id have to see the spoiler that your talking about in a little more detail before Id go for that, it might look good, I just can't tell....
#1 FTW.. i really dont like the look of the painted section, and if you go with a spoiler at all, i would go with an F2 spoiler if you could find one, or a shark to match your big front end.
if you did a spoiler on tha back like you are talking about it would remind me of this...

lol.. actually i think it would fit your idea pretty well being between the tail lights and all

I voted #1 . pleeeeeeeaaaase dont paint between the tails... looks awful...
The king rear is as hot as it gets. paiting it also looks great IMO.
As for the spoiler, it might be perfect (as it is on bimers) or terribly wrong.
I will get one also if it will turn out great.

oo. those type of spoilers.. looks like a Home Depot special to me, lol.. if you are going to go with something like that, i would highly suggest going from one side of the hatch to the other. it seems like that type of spoiler would look really un-finished if it was only between the tails or something like you are talking about..
Hmmm...
I'm not sold on the painting between the tails or the tiny spoiler either but I just reckon the 1st gen Coupe's un-spoilered arse needs a little more definition. It looks ok from some angles but from others it just looks terrible IMHO. I've thought about removing the spoiler a few times but every now & then I'll be driving along & I'll see a Coupe with no spoiler (the base model 1.8L SX didn't come with a spoiler over here) & that'll totally put me off the idea. Looks like a shapeless blob sometimes.
I'd love to just get an RD2's hatch from the wreckers & modify it around the tails to fit but I also really like the Shark-style wings & that'd be loads cheaper & less time consuming.
