Default Dent Removal (Attn: 2000Low&Show)

Is there anything I should know about dent removal (like, "never attempt this yourself"). I have two golf ball sized dents in my hood and one tiny one in the trunk (along with a few door dings). I have access to ball-peen, rubber, and lead hammers and am not afraid to start taking things apart.

What I'm most worried about is making the situation worse. None of the dents affect the paint, and I was quoted about $250 to get them all out . . . ouch. I need that money for a hood repaint (front chips) or more engine mods.

Any suggestions?

thanks,

I had a big golf ball sized dent in my door that I had removed for $20. I knew the guy at the repair shop though so he hooked me up. But with the right tools, it didn't look hard. Just a little time consuming to get it to look perfect.
