Default Cowl hoods

I know these things aid in performance on big block drag cars but do they help in any of the least bit on our cars? I think it looks ridiculous

If you want a high pressure area to get air under your hood easily, it's the grille or the cowl. Cowl induction has one benefit front induction does not, that you can have a fuel pressure gauge looking at you from the engine bay. Also if you fit an inline V8 or something you can have more room for the engine.
