Continuing About Fake Kits
ok, i was just thinking of this...
i got chewed out, and so did other people about promoting knock off copied kits and parts. i understand this, and its site rules, so whatever, im fine with it..
heres what im not fine with, the double standards.. some people support flyryde and whatever, even though theres a huge negative history, but whatever its not hurting me..
anyway, his TWO bumpers he sells, and EVERY other kit he promotes through the people he deals with, are all knockoffs, yet we let him sell them here, in group buys, and post about the knockoff kits he can get without saying a word..
but when a peon member like myself or DTN says that someone should just get a knockoff AEM, or knockoff VS to save money we get chewed out, or warned, and topics locked...
but when your flyryde, its fine... just don't understand it..

^^ I've been warned 4 times about ChromeIntakes CAI, and technically, it's not even a real rule I could find on the site.
What really pisses me off is that it is not even the same thing. It's a two piece and made of chrome. The AEM is a powdercoated one piece. The similarity stops at where the filter goes. IMO ChromeIntakes makes a better CAI then AEM.
How can flyride get away with making direct knock-off bumpers?

I personally think that the whole idea is bullshit. We dont have major companies producing new products for us now, and the ones that originally designed the products are slowly flaking out. Why not support companies that will build product for us?

^^ I hear you on that. AEM will charge $200 for a CAI. Chrome Intakes will charge $20 for a CAI. I'm sure AEM made money off of the deal and will continue making products. I'm almost positive that AEM has made CAIs for almost every newer car out there today.
Where is the line drawn though? Would a set of DropZone springs (when they finally are made) for $100 be considered a knockoff vs a SMA set for $400?

which kits are knockoffs? I'm not extremely familiar with Flyryde's product, so please provide additional information and specific circumstances.
It's one thing for people to reproduce the Genius kit, one that's nearly impossible to find and get shipped over to the US... but it's another thing to reproduce a Veilside kit when the longest you may have to wait is 6 weeks. They keep warehouses in the US and can get it for you. Same with AEM.
I was under the impression most of Chris' products come from reputable companies, such as Megan (somewhat reputable) or SUN or Vertical Doors, Inc. I know he tries to produce new products based off other company ideas, but I wasn't aware he was reproducing currently available products.

Yup. It's all fun and games to quit as a moderator and start your opinons after man, but you have to tell us what he makes that's a knockoff.
Turbyskirts? They aren't made yet, and those are almost impossible to get. Hell, after the SFR GB is over, you'll probably never see them sold from Korea again.
The Cuda 2/MPS kit? It's not identical, and MPS went out of business YEARS ago.
The F2 Evo kit? You can't even buy it unless it's used anyways.
What's another one?
As for the AEM thing AGAIN, AEM doesn't actually sell product, do they? No. They have a MSRP for their items, but you can find them for much cheaper. Am I telling anyone to buy a AEM intake for $218? Hell no. I got mine brand new, shipped, for $145.
I need to nip some of this in the bud.
LISTEN CAREFULLY EVERYONE, as I am only saying it once.
We do not support, or let our members support, illegal activities or products.
THE REASON BEING, the site is owned and run by an Active Duty Military Member. The site is administered also by a Disabled Veteran. There are MANY military members on this site. We could easily be prosecuted, by the MILITARY, for promoting or allowing such items to be sold or discussed on this site, and I'll be damned if I'm losing my Disability Pay and getting my discharge changed to "Other than Honorable", and Java isn't going to have his upcoming retirement blown to bits, because some of you are assholes and don't want to pay what it costs to play the game we play here.
Plain and simple.
Think it can't happen? It has, and with some of the VENGEFUL members on this site, it could easily be started.

Show me where these products are illegal redz, I haven't seen any of these companies sued for similar CAI's. The legal argument is bullshit, no one's getting sued because we talk about products on a message board.
Well, there's a big difference between reproductions and knockoffs. I'm pretty sure my Zefiro kit is still avaliable from Korea, and there is a kit around that could be called a knockoff. I would never buy the knockoff. But when the day comes that Zefiro stops making my kit (if they haven't already), then I would consider a reproduction if needed. But I don't like a company that uses copyrighted photos and photos without permission and stuff like that to promote their product. I guess it's just a matter of using discretion. I put cheap parts on my car when I started out cause I didn't know any better. The admins just wanna prevent that from happening to newer members now, especially now that parts are so much more avaliable than they were 5 years ago.
