Tip for those mudflaps. Take them off, wash and scrub them with a bristle brush, let them dry.
They spray them with black paint. Gloss or satin or flat...your choice. Do SEVERAL coats.
Looks kick butt, and you only have to wash them to make them look good! No more armor all or "back to black" stuff!

Argh! Doesn't anyone read previous posts first anymore! wink.gif
Just playing TiGgEr
And Rondesgr to answer your question, I found that Turtle wax Bug and Tar remover KICKS ASS! I had my doubts, but it was lik 7 bucks, so I figure i try it,... and Damn! eek.gif It's good, but the instructions say let it set, well you only need like 5-10 seconds then buff off with terry cloth or an old bath towel. All tar is gone
I made the mistake of like 30 seconds and it was a windy day so that made it dry faster so it was kinda caked on in certain spots and didn't work that well, but yeah 5-10 secs and you're good. It leaves this really good shine too!I highly recommend that stuff.
Oh and Random, thanks again, that's a good idea. Maybe I'll do that next weekend. smile.gif

Naw, A friend of mine did it on his 240sx. They still looked good a year after. he moved away, so I can't get any photos. Sorry!
I worked on a Car Care Center and I know many tricks about this. To get the wildest wet-look finish you must remove all the contaminants (that soap and wax can't remove) that includes tar and the one that is in top of the clear coat of your car (rub with your fingers your paint and feel the little rocks that are there), the tar remover that I use is the "Gunk Tar Remover" (find it in Western Auto), later you will use a clay bar (like Mothers Clay Bar Kit that sell "Pep Boys") and rub all the paint of the car, this clay bar is amazing it removes everything specially another color paint marks (like the ones that your car get if someone is painting near), after tha clay bar treatment you will feel your paint different because is perfectly clean. Then apply your favorite wax (I recommend 3M, Zymol or Meguiars Gold Class waxes). Remember that you must remove all that contaminants of your clear coat to getthe best wet-look finish.
He's right about the clay bar.
I picked up the Maguiar's Detailer Kit this weekend, which consists of a bottle of detailers polish and a clay bar. You use the polish to lubricate the surface, run the clay bar over it, and then wipe it off with a towel. It worked REALLY WELL! Mirror-smooth finish. I only did about 1/2 my car, because my hands were starting to cramp from constantly kneading the clay, but it looks better-than-new. Hopefully next weekend I'll have time to do the whole car and then wax over it to seal it in.

I purchased Zymol over the weekend as suggested by this topic and I have to say that it is definately the best wax I have ever used. It was 14 bucks for the bottle but I was worth every penny. It took most of the swirl marks out when I applied the first coat by hand. It looked even better when I used my 6 inch buffer. Thanks for the suggestion.
which zymol did you buy.....there are 2 kinds. There is the cleaner wax which is in a kinda wide bottle and there is the polish which is in a slender bottle. if you want to clean your paint use the cleaner and then buy some polish and put over it..i don't like the cleaner but the polish is awesome. I would recomment usint the buying the clay bar much like everyone has already said and use their cleaner wax. Once you've done that go over it with the polish.
I have a red tiburon and it pretty much glows in the dark now.
I will have some pictures of my car soon.
