When you paint a car weather you are just repainting the whole car the same color or doing a color change. Do you have to paint the car as a whole or can you do it in sections. What I mean is can you remove the front and rear bumper, hood, both fenders, hatch, and paint them and then go and paint the rest of the car like the pillers and quarter panels and then re assemble the car. Or is it better to just leave the car intact and paint it all as a whole?

 

"Better" depends on your goals.

 

If your using low quality paint as a whole is better for it will blend better and more evenly if your using high quality paint in sections is better you get alot better coverage in the hard to get to areas which makes a HUGE difference. all depends on your money situation

 

The clearcoat blending usually flakes over time.

 

You CAN paint it in pieces. Usually done out of necessity. For example-- a friend of mine who was known for his restored 440 Challenger had project pics such as a fender on a 55 gal drum in his back yard with new Sublime green paint on it. He did the whole car that way. Piece by piece in his Mom's back yard because he had no choice and that car was NICE!



You would just have to be careful and make sure you are doing the exact same thing (including paying attention to weather) every time you paint.
