if I get the question right... he is asking if any of the fake VS kits are as good as the original. In a word, no. In this case you ARE getting what you pay for. With a true Veilside, you can literally unbolt the stock parts and bolt on the kit and drive it to the paintshop if you want. VERY little finishing work needs to be done if at all.

you mentioned you're limited on budget..just remember that it IS going to cost a lot to get it painted, and if you buy a cheap kit a lot to get it modified to fit your car.
PLEASE before you buy a kit, talk to a body shop and have them give you a rough estimate on extra work needing to be done, and then don't purchase anything until you have ALL the money. there's nothing more annoying than a ricer driving around with an unpainted (unmatching) body kit for a few months.

alternatives:
to the question of fake veilside vs real veilside..YES, HUGE difference. although it depends, sometimes you get lucky and the fake one fits pretty well. but i've also heard stories of people spending A LOT of money (Enough to almost buy the REAL veilside) getting their cheap "vader" kit to fit.
so i guess it's up to you--i wouldn't take the chance. if you can't afford it then save for it, or go with a different style kit you can afford. (unless you want to risk it..but nobody's going to have sympathy if you have to spend a lot of money just getting it to fit.) As was mentioned, the ixion and zefiro kits are very nice and fit great.

to answer your question: Luck of the draw.

Right now I'm looking at the Zefiro Evo and the GTR body kits. I e-mailed importshark.com yesterday to get some prices, this is what he told me about the GTR: the front bumper and rear bumpers are $425 and the sideskirts are $350. We have this kit in stock--the Zefiro would have to be imported...

He wasnt able to give me any information on the Zefiro

Someone on cardomain has the front bumper of the GTR and it looks like it fits good but I dont have anything myself to know

The reason this topic is so confusing is becuase the title is so vauge, you have to READ THE FIRST POST!!!

ANYWAYS, i purchased a knockoff veilside kit from www.bodykits.com , paid 599 for the kit and 1200 for installation. (you probably will get the same mold i had, dont image there were too many originals, problem is if someone copys the copy then it may get shady, thats why you stay away from ebay for bodykits). if you get a true veilside not only will you get raped for the price of fiberglass, what is it now like 2.5g's for a copy of a mold?? THEN you will have to install and paint. Now if your a DIY'er then sure you can do it yourself, b/c the real kit does fit perfectly, but take ur time do it quality. You still need paint money, prolly 300ish . call a reputable place get a quote from someone else who painted a body kit there maybe... SO THERES YOUR NUMBERS, either way your not gonna get off the hoook paying 400 dollars unless you want to use house paint...

Hope that helps, and btw i was kidding about the house paint eek.gif

oh and also i have compared my "replica" to the real thing kit and the thickness of the fiberglass is the same. So don't worry about cracking anymore than u would the real one.

Actually strength wise i will give veilside more props on the durability and strength and finish any day over a fake. An old member on here veilsidetib00 has a true veilside kit on his old tib. He was on his way home from dallas to abilene when his front air strut broke in half and laid the car down on the freeway and then into the dirt most kits at this point would have been distroyed. This kit only ended up with one crack about 3-4 inches long and didnt do a thing to the rest of it. We repaired it and havnt had a problem with it since. I have another friend who ordered a fake kit and spent hours trying to get that thing to fit to were it looked good on the car. Lots of work. But ultimitly the choice is yours.

I haven't read the thread, just the first few posts. I'm rumaging through the threads trying to catch up from my last 9 days of my vacation.

FYI: The Veilside body kits have decreased in price and can be found for around $1500-1800. I would look at the Dealers on the Veilside site and contact them for the best price (if you do decide to go with Veilside).
http://veilside.com/veilsideusa/dealersb.html

You'll probably be spending at least $1200 no matter what body kit you get, and most of that it for the quality, durability, and popularity. If you don't get Veilside, I'd suggest Zefiro.

To all of you who are saying: "READ THE FIRST POST!!!!!!" um.....take a look yourself!
I thin he asking for alternatives to Veilside and if any other companies out there make kits that are as famous as Veilside.
The answer: yes, Ixion and Zefiro is all that I know.

For the on-going fake veilside vs. real veilside crap.....
it's not even a question which is better, of course you should go with the real. Screw eBay when it comes to body kits...you WILL get screwed over!

Also, real Veilsides sit lower than fake ones.....a true Veilside may not even fit if your car is already lowered, they are very low kits...
I believe it was Majik who was at a show and parked his next to a fake Veilside and you could see the inch difference or so in ride height!

So your choices as I see it are the REAL Veilside, Zefiro, Ixion, GTR I guess from importshark.....

QUOTE (MasterJ51503)
Im looking for bodykits at the moment, but am not very familiar with veilside competition. I know there are plenty of of companies that sell knock off veilside kits for $400.00 (sometimes less) and you end up paying 3 x that on installation, but has anyone ever bought a bodykit from a company besides veilside? (because i dont have a $2,000 budget to spend JUST on the bodykit)
and if so, did it fit good, or is it possible that its just the luck of the draw so to say, and you cant guarantee any kit will fit if its not a veilside? I tried my best to explain my predicament smile.gif in other words, its possible that this isnt very clear.

READ, what he is asking is:

#1: how do fake veilsides compare to real ones,
and
#2 as far as fitment between fake vs real ones, (speaking hypothetically) let's say you're getting a fake one, do you know which one to get? how do you know which fake one will fit better? or is it just the luck of the draw?

#1: has been answered over and over in this thread,

#2: the luck of the draw, although most people are going to tell you to not risk it and either get a real one, or find an alternative kit.
