Auto-body Speciallist Needed...stripping Paint
I was going to sell my tib but some bondo cracked and im deciding on repainting the whole car...I can get dupont chroma base paint at cost thrrough my stepdads work. Anyways I was wondering if anyone had experience with Klean-Strip? EIther Aircraft stripper or Auto Strip..My plan is to use a powerwasher to remove it from the car once applied..Any suggestions...Thanks NATE
on my freinds old toyota pickup that we built a custom frame for, and are currently redoing the body on we used air craft stripper. if your stripping the paint completely you would have to take out your windows cuz the stuff is hard to apply and will eat through any rubbers and plastics. and use it in a extremely well ventelated area. and make sure not to get it on your skin, and i wouldnt use a power washer cuz thats gonna shoot taht stuff everywhere.
Hey man goto an automotive paint store and just ask for chemical paint stripper, I have no clue what it's called because we just used it but it will take it down ALOT... like all paint in one time and it does a good job, its a yellow thick but stilll a little on the runny side substance and if you smell it you will know that it works.
do you just want to do the bondo spot? it would be eaiser to just strip the spot that needs body work, do the body work and then sand the rest of the car. after it sets up you just wear some THICK rubber gloves and push the paint and stripper off, then use water to get whatever is left off.
The paint feels soft though...if that makes sense...Like when my bumper broke and I had to repair that, I sanded down all the paint and it took forever because it kept gumming up on the sander and making like a gel when it was hot?
bro just a reccomendation do not strip ur whole car. for one its winter time and the condensation will cause instant rust if you dont get a coat of primer and paint on it quickly. the guy who did my whole car just wetsanded it. ntm leaving some primer/paint will help the new coats adhere better.
just sand out all the bondo, pull out the damage and rebondo no thicker than a penny or you could rough it up a ton and use fg instead of bondo(stronger).
but i mean if your dad works with paint and knows what he's doing then just trust what he says.
