I have had 3 headlights go out and two other people I know with 2nd gen Tibbys have also had theirs go out. And I don't just mean aftermarket bulbs, but the stock bulbs went out within a year and a half or so on all 3 Tibbys. Two were bought at the same dealership and the other was from a different dealership. I have also seen many other 2nd gen Tibbys with a missing headlight. Anyone else seem to have this problem? It's pretty ridiculous...

Yeah, I had the same problem. I don't know what it is but we talked about it here last year. Wish they would fix it though. My dealership in Kansas replaced them free.

 

yeah, i bought mine new from the dealership and the headlights went out in just over a year. it has only been about 8 months since that and they just went out again last week. it's really annoying.

 

I've replaced mine 4 times since last August. Tell ME it's annoying (And DAMN expensive). I know !!
Right now I have one from the dealership in, and one from O'Reilly's (only H7 in the whole town). We'll see how it goes.

 

I bought my 2nd gen Tib in July 2000 and just last week (Friday) the light bulbs for the low and high beam on the driver side went out. It's kind of weird the high beam went out since I never use them. Anyways the dealer replace both light bulbs free of charge. smile.gif

PS. I called Hyundai and they told me headlights are under the 5y/6k miles unles is a fuse (fuse is tear and wear) or it needs adjustment (1y/12k miles)

 

gen2's seem to have issues with headlights burning out. More than any other Hyundai Model. However, some Gen2 owners are still rollin' strong with their stock bulbs, years later.

Maybe we should start to collect more info on this to try to determine what is the comoniality.

I have replaced 8 Pairs of bulbs and both harnesses this last year alone , I am presently running Sylvania stock type bulbs, I also have 1 headlight that shows very dimly. It seems to be the "high performance" lights that go out in alot of cars. Anyone try the new Sylvania Silverstars yet?

i think ive replaced like 4 bulbs in less then a year ( and no i dont touch the bulb) all off the replacements have been cheapy Sylvania cause i know they wont last so im not gonna buy good ones.
