especially the glass ones. i forget the price, but like close to $500 or more i'm guessing. i don't know why. maybe because they look high end?

I dunno. I don't really feel it. But, what really counts is if you think it looks good and if you think you could be proud of it. When you do something really different to a car, there's always lovers and haters, there's respecters and discrespecters. Personally, I'd give this project some respect for the body work involved and a little more for the custom nature. I don't really think it would look right though.
One cool thing is the chassis is the same, so you may not have any problems bolting up alot of things. I know my Tib has some unused bolt holes in various locations so that may be used for the elantra.
If it were me, I'd look at getting some truely unique parts and fitting them to the car rather then parts from basically the same car. I mean, if you want to be different that is.

What, like an elantra WRX or something? Sometimes "dare to be different" cars end up the big winners.

Have you seen a pontiac sunfire?
There are 2 door and 4 door versions.
Sunfire 2 door ver = regular tib....
Sunfire 4 door ver = Elantra you got in mind....

and the old neon coupes and neon sedans...
thats what this will be. alot of people probably wont notice, which is what will make it really neat, i think.
you could even do something REALLY neat.. like RD1 front, with a GK II front facia.. or RD1 front with RD2 facia like HIVE.
i really think a shark spoiler would set off the 'tiburon' look though.
