16's ? Or 17's ? Rims?
After reading this I was wonndering if you guys could help me out also... I just put 17's on my 98' Tib, eversince I got them put on I notice my steering wheel shaking alot more when i go about70 mph or higher, I had the wheels balaned out but that didn't change much! Any ideas?
WHEEL BEARINGS GOING BAD.............check the other thread for that. That was exactly what mine felt like when they started to go.....'cept I have the stock 15's w/ nonstock (wider) tires.
it may not be your wheel bearings, both of my front wheel bearings are new and my steering wheel is shaking too, i am getting new struts installed soon and i will update, and see if it goes away.

I saw on www.tires.com a couple weeks ago packages for 16's and 17's with tires for only like $500. All of a sudden, they changed the site and I can't find them anymore. But rims and tires for only $500 is a great deal. Anyone know where we could get a deal like that now?
i dont know about you guys, but i LOVE a stiff ride(no ghey jokes!, lol)
I love feeling the road, and If I wanted a smooth ride, I would have bought a cadillac!
My 17's are 15.5lbs , ... (Lighter than alot of 16's on the road)
17's look better than 16's if you ask me, but of course thats just a personal opinion.
I know people on here have 16's that weigh like 13 lbs, now thats a difference of 2.5 lbs compared to my 17's.
2.5
x 4
----
10lbs more weight in total, but how much does the 205/40/17 tire weigh compared to 205/50/16??
I'm guessing its a tad lighter.
so lets assume that both tires weigh exactly the same. 10 extra pounds is nothing.
So if I race a guy who has a huge subbox in the trunk and rides 16's,...
and I have 17's and nothing in my trunk, the 16 to 17 inch wheel ratio hardly matters.
okay thats 2.5 extra pounds that has to turn, but give me a break, ... 2 pounds is'nt going to help you get that much faster.
hehe
okay im done.

16 Inch Konig Traffiks, Nitto 440's on the back and I have now replaced the fronts with Kumo Ecsta 711's. 205/50/16's. Or is it 55?
Just to put my 2 cents in I have 17s and I thought the ride was gonna be super harsh the way some people talked about them. But once putting them on I hardly noticed any difference in ride quality. It was slightly stiffer but the cornering was so much improved. I have smoked some pretty good bumps and potholes and have had no problem with bending. I am running slightly taller tires than stock which may help a bit(215/40/17). Also what helps as well is that if you go with a Z rated tire they tend to have stiffer sidewalls in general which can help when you hit the odd pothole. I am running Kuhmo Escta Supra 712s. As far as a performance reduction well I still have problems with smoking 1st gear even with the extra weight AND my LSD! :?
