The manfuactuer of the cam is the place to really check. If they reccomended upgraded valve springs, you'd be foolish not to get them. They should be able to reccomend a set/brand of springs to go with their cam.

Email SR and see if the manfuactuer of the cam reccomends stronger springs, and what springs they reccomend.

RPW makes stronger springs/retainers, as do many companies in Korea. KSpec carries the Tigerlily springs.

You should be fine with your stock valve springs with a 268 Duration.I had Catcams which i dynoyed for JRP 2 years ago and it says you can use your stock springs with the catcams. So to answer your question,You should be fine

Forgot to mention that the Catcams were also a 268 Duration with a 9.5 cam lift and 10mm lift so you will be fine with the SR cams smile.gif

So if I did the install on the cams, and BBTB what size injectors do you recomend I get? The AFC should be enough to run everything right?

With just cams and a BTB, you won't be maxing out the stock injectors. The S-AFC would help you get the most out of the setup.

One of the things that I would suggest is that if you all ready have your head semi-torn apart then just pay about $80 more and just put on the stronger valve springs at least and even maybe buy the retainer. What your going to end up doing is opening up the options in the future to doing other things and at the same time, extending the life of your valves. In the future, say you feel like raising your redline you won't have to worry about tearing the head apart again and squeezing valve springs on. That's just my suggestion, do it while it's apart.

Well it would probably be wise to do so, however if one was justifing new valve springs for the sole purpose of a higher redline, one may want to consider a better excuse.

It has been tossed around before that our BETA's really don't make any power N/A after 6400-6500, maybe even after a set of aggressive cams.

However it maybe quite the contrary with some forced induction, but no one will be using these cams with a turbo/s.c. and i think things start flying apart 7500+ and one would require a stand alone engine management system to set a higher redline and engine blueprinting, massaging and excessive pampering that would make any girl jealous. wink

I think most people would agree that the ends wouldn't justify the means with a stand alone engine management system for a n/a engine. It's just the power per dollar wouldn't add up. suicide
