Wierd Puttering!?
So I just got my Clutch replaced a week ago and it was driving fine. Well I gassed it and it almost like puttered like it was puttering or the clutch was engaging and disengaging quickly and then all of a sudden the check engine light came on and now it smells like something is burning from the engine compartment and it still putters. any suggenstions? I'm taking it into the shop tomorrow at 7 and I was wondering if it could be the clutch? Someone that works at an auto shop and he said if its shifting fine which it is smoother than ever then its most likely not the clutch and is something else mechanical and he said to not take it in to the clutch place and just take it to where my warranty is. Does this sound right to anyone?
Any help would be so grateful!

I would get the CEL read if I could. Also can you tell if the smell is from the clutch or from anything else? Clutches and brakes have a specific smell when they get very hot, you must know it.
Radu I know that smell.
Anyways i agree with your friend it probably isnt the clutch.
If you replaced your Clutch cover, Clutch Disc, Clutch(or throwout, thrust) bearing then you shouldnt have a problem.
Your problem sounds engine related... Like a petrol pump/petrol filter.
Does it sputter when its not moving or in idle?
Does it sputter when cold or after certain time after driving.

Does the noise change when you push the clutch pedal in?
Did the tranny shop remember to fill the tranny back up with gear lube after the clutch change? That would account for the puttering and smell.
The fact that this problem didn't occur before they changed the clutch makes it seem like that would be the problem. IMO

But if there was not oil i dont think it would shift nicely.
I think he said that..
Just IMO

ya it shifts fine. the smell is def. not the classic clutch burn smell. I know that one. ya it putters in idle but even worse when moving and it literally almost sounds like a sti exhaust when i take off cause its puttering so hard, I'm to scared to take it above 45 afraid of droping something.
I was thinking this "puttering" could be clutch chatter...which is noticeable at idle most of the time with the pedal engaged. But you can normally feel it aswell which lead me to retract my statement.
Sooo yeah get that cel looked at
