Shark Racing is considering carrying a Cam and Modified ECU set that has been show to produce 30 HP at the wheels on Korean beta engines. However the cost would be between $1400 and $1600.
For Europe, South America, and Asia, this would just replace your stock ECU, and just replace your stock cams.
For USA folks, it will require either a conversion to MAP sensor rather than MAF to use the Korean Modified ECU, or use an S-AFC rather than the modified ECU.
For you folks that must get emissions tested, I'm fairly certian that this ECU/CAM combo will NOT PASS emissions at idle. The Korean Spec ECU would NOT have OBD-II.
The cost would be lower if you went with just the cams and the S-AFC, but, part of the gains are in altering of timing, which the S-AFC cannot do, so it would be more like 15 to 25 WHP with just the SAFC and the Cams. Our testing will show us how it does.
If the testing only shows 15 WHP with the cams and SAFC, we will be producing a MAF to MAP conversion kit, so you can use the modified ECU.
Shark Racing would like to know, how many people would be interested in spending $1400 to $1600 on this modification. With the new Intake Manifold for the MAF to MAP conversion, add another $200 (approx).

I would be interested in the Cams and the SAFC. But i am wondering, would a wiring diagram come w/ the SAFC. Since i live in VA i would need to pass emissions. The transfer from MAF to MAP. How hard would the be???

one question, if i went with this mod ::evil grin:: would i still reasonably be able to do forced induction and/or nos after this mod???
if we can get some hp and $$ numbers, i could consider it more, but 1600 for 30 hp, and doing it "basically" bolt on LOL
i'm interested, but i would need to see some numbers before i could REALLY consider it smile.gif
Chris..

Seems a little pricey to me, especially with the extra PsITA it'll give you. I'd be interested in the cams, and possibly interested in the chip/MAP swap kit, if there was an option to pick up a bored MAP IM.
My initial reaction to the price was "a little high." I realize that the cams and chip are more of a "base" mod that will enhance other modifications, but for that kind of figure, I could sink in an equivalent amount for a supercharger and get 50+ HP.

The Alpine Supercharger is going to be more than $1600 soon, so buy it now if you plan on it.
Just the Cams and S-AFC would be cheaper than $1300-1600 price. The $1300-$1600 price includes the Modified Korean Spec ECU.
Also, N/A Mods are generally more expensive per HP than forced induction. Heck, you could always drop $800 on a Nitrous setup and gain 45 HP to the wheels.
This mod would be for the people who want to go N/A and Stay N/A.

This modification would work with Nitrous, but it would NOT work With Forced Induction. The cam timing/overlap/lifts between N/A engines and Forced Induction engines are VERY different.

Your chances of passing emissions with these cams are next to NIL. SAFC or Korean ECU, it will not matter. The idle will be somewhat lopey, and you would not pass Emissions. If you used the S-AFC to LEAN the hell out of the engine, you MIGHT squeek by an emissions test, but I doubt it, and it would not be good to your motor to do that.
Chris
You should have no problems with these cams/ECU on your MAP equipped Coupe.

The IM with MAP sensor could be bored out with no problem, but it would add to the above costs. This 30 HP to the wheels does not take into consideration a decent Intake, BTB, Headers/exhaust work.

Zoe, since you have the same ECU as the Korean-spec cars, you could buy the I/E cam set, plus the remapped Type-R ECU, and not do any of the special modifications that Random is talking about. With just the cams, and not the ECU, you're not going to get that much power. Let me know if you're interested.
