I would go with between 18 and 24 inches.
If you go for a 12" it might not do enough.
Also, go for a perforated core (holes drilled in the inner tubing) rather than a louvered core (u shaped flaps bent up into the air stream).

Headders make the exhaust VERY loud, I have ( wait for it ) a 36" resonator to keep the 2.5" pipes quiet, and it's still loud!!! with glass packs and most other resonators the noise comes into the car more than it gets out to the road ( I'm not sure if it's the noise hitting the road and bouncing back thru the thinner floor of the car ) . Your gonna need some dyna mat to keep it qiuet inside your ride, outside your SOL.

how hard would it be to dynamat the inside of your ride? I've heard of people doing it, but right now its pretty loud inside my tib, but would you dynamat under the carpet? or what?
at summit racing they have a 45" resonator, would that fit?

A 45" resonator might be a tad too long. You'd have to crawl under and measure.
Also, do you know if it is perforated or louvered core?
