Doing a 4 air filter CAI setup...for those w/o fog lights...mount directly behind either custom grills or the lame plastic stock/factory insert..and then mount two in the middle....it's a small ID so small tubing would be perfect to route to a 4-1 custom tube housing unit. Any thoughts?

It's possible...but you would not really see any gains over a REAL CAI from KORE, MHP or etc...etc..etc..

The added piping for all 4 air filters someplace cold would lower intake air speed, which is just asking for higher intake air temps as the air tubing heats up.

When designing a CAI some principles to keep in mind.

#1. make it short. As short as possible and still get cold air. If the CAI puts the filter in the engine bay...that's TOO short.

#2. As few bends as possible. The less bends, the higher the air speed, and the straighter the air is.

#3. Size isn't everything. a 10" pipe feeding your MAF will not have enough air speed. The Engine will still be forced to "suck" the air out of the CAI. It will also heat up the air as the tubing of the CAI heats up. At the same time, a 1" CAI tube is too small and too restrictive. Between 2.5" and 3" so far appears to work best.
