Default Re: Arkspeedracing.com New Feature Beta Testing

well now, i already figured it out...

the batt lamp didnt light since when i switched to ignition, it never lighted in the first place... got the alternator out now... after studying the schematic and the toyota help website, i believe its the regulator... i wonder if the regulator can be repaired or we have to change the whole alt.

That I'm not sure of.If it's an external regulator, I don't see why you couldn't just get that alone.

I mean, in our stock tibs, the alt has a built-in IC regulator... I prefer the external regulator though since we can set the voltage higher... I think what destroyed my alt is my sound system...

That's very possible that the stereo killed the alt.Our alts are only 90A.You can't expect to have a total system power of 500Wrms or greater and not at some point kill the electrical system.

Default Gauges Are here!

Now I am faced with the decision to buy a new alt...

I removed my alt and have it tested but the shop told me that it needs to be replaced... BUT, they have only of the same type, and 90A...

My sound system is good up to 1,500 Watts RMS.

Now, is there a danger in changing to another type of alternator? I mean, is there a risk if a buy an old high current amp with an external regulator? Wont it damage the engine?

I think I have to start another thread regarding altss..... Searched this forum, couldn't find any...
