Default Weird fuel problem

This weekend, I went to 3 different gas stations and each time, my car was doing something weird. When I would put the nozzle in the tank opening and press up on the handle, it would stop pumping. It basically acted as if the tank was full, which it wasnt. However, if I lifted the handle just a little bit so that gas went in the tank a little at a time, it was fine.

I asked a couple of people and they said it sounds like it could be a sensor in the gas tank or ventilation system that thinks the tanks is full and its making the gas pumps do that. Anyone have any ideas?

Had this problem really bad on my elantra. Clicked off every .5gal or so, even on the slow rates. Took it to the shop, he took apart the entire neck and fuel filler area, and couldn't find anything wrong with it. After about 6mos it's mostly gone away.

^^ If it's just that, how do you go about fixing it?? I soooo wish I had known this a year ago...
