Well, I've been wanting to do this for some time, and finally found a decent set of hole cutters to do it with. It came out PERFECT on both of the ones I've done so far.
I'll do this for anyone that wants it, free, just pay s/h.
Pics... (Click)
They are perfectly centered, and have a perfect edge on them, just need a slight repainting after they are done.
Anyways, I put it here because this isn't a sale, just pics of what I did, and what you can have if you want. It'll be cheaper to send it both ways than to buy your own set of these hole cutters and set it up. Takes me about 20 seconds now that I have my "Jig" made.

For the looks of it... It's good for shows and safer than leaving the whole cover off.
After I get my red one back I will have a black one to send you redz. You can use it to start a chain.

Sounds good
Coming. I want to install my Fidanza first.
You don't NEED an opened cover. I want one, so I can access the bolts on the Fidanza.
No, I don't need it all the time, but I like being able to see in there.
Sounds good

I thought everybody did it that way, I had mine that way for 5 years now, it really makes it look alot better and easy to adjust if needed, I tend to check the screws to make sure their tight once in a while.

Everyone should. Good way to see the condition of the pulley and timing belt at a glance.

you think thats old. heres one i did almost 10 years ago (but on a different car)
circa 1998 baby!
works great, looks great. but there is one downside that hasnt been said, when you cut open the housing like that, it allows dirt to get in there, and timing belts wont last as long as you would notice otherwise. it seems the dirt effects the age'ing of the timing belts.
but this is ALOT better of an option then to just run without the cover installed at all. i may have to send mine out to redz to get done. i planned on doing it myself with the dremel, but if he has a hole saw, it should turn out really nice.

I've got a hole saw and a perfect template for it (worked perfectly 2 times). Since you brought up the dirt, maybe I can figure out a temporary cover. Give me a few days.

now that would be cool! like a pop in cover for the hole? that shouldnt be too hard, and i never thought of that. very cool idea. and it would get rid of the 1 slight flaw there is. now you got me thinking too.
