Default Valve cover

I went to take off my valve cover today, to paint it. Got all the bolts off and everything, and the thing wouldn't budge, not one bit. From what I was seeing, it looked glued down! There was sum beige lookin stuff around the seams that looked like glue. Is this sumthin that Hyundai did? or maybe sum one else did? Also, how would I go about getting it off, cuz I plan on gettin a new cam soon so I'ma need to get it off. Didn't notice that HMA service said it was glued, maybe I'm missing sumthin, lol. I took out all the bolts I could find frown

No, the factory didn't glue them

did you remove the two bolts located on hte timing cover?

the stuff you mentioned that was 'glue' just sounds like the valve cover gasket....

Yea i removed all the bolts, the spark plug cover, the 2 on the timing chain cover. I actually removed the whole cover, friggin lost 1 screw into my fender well, hopes it still there Well whatever is there, it's holdin like a mutha fvcka. It' s even like buding to let me know I did sumthin right. W/ all the bolts out it felt like it was still bolted in.

me and random have probably taken over 20 valve covers off in the last 5 months...

recheck everything

there are 4 side bolts i believe
and theres 1 in the middle next to spark plug #1 (passenger side cyl)

Recheck everything
its not glued... its just a gasket and its reusable

Did you buy the car used? Maybe a previous owner used a sealant. Otherwise, it should easily come off. Remember, this POS is plastic, so be gentle. wink

Mine was the exact same way. I have a 97 Tib and pulled the valve cover a few weeks ago. It's not glued just tough as hell to get off. I used a flat head screw driver under one corder (by the coil-pack) and pushed like hell until it started to give.

BE CAREFUL. I still managed to crack mine and ended up using fiberglass to fix the crack.

i know what the problem is. the rice gods are getting angry because you're not supposed to paint the valve cover. they're trying to help you to not rice-out your car. heed their warning.
