It's been bugging me for a couple of weeks now. When I installed the new intake cam, I noticed that I don't have an upper chain guide attached to the last bearing caps. Is this something that should be there or is it typical that some tibs don't have one?
That is actually a "FIX" at dealerships, for the chain noise, they just remove the upper guide!! A mechanic i talked to actually turned them upside down so he knew that HE did that car !

^6that's a good one, mechanic's signature. HAHA
yea, they are completely uneccesary it's no biggie if you have one or not. I have one and haven't touched it, don't fvck with what works. Currently I have no timing chain noise and no need to take it to a dealership to be removed..
LOL
But if it will make you feel better I'll take mine off and ship it for you. wink1.gif

Yea it is pretty funny, he works in OHIO and he said that he got a call one day from a shop in Florida and they were doing engine work and when they took off the Valve cover they saw the guide in upside down and was like "what the fcuk", he then said "well now i know that a car i worked on made it to florida"

Thanks for the info guys. I followed the diy on the cam install and was suprised to find that my car didn't have the guide. Obviously my car has been running fine w/o one, but I had to double check. Maybe someone should update the diy for future use.
