Default Uni-Chip retuning....ARRGGHHH!!!!

I finally got to talk to the uni-Chip tech at the shop that was going to do the re-tune.

I explained all the problems that the systems has, and what has been done. They explained that it would be $149 for a Dyno Diagnosis...and then $531 for a complete retune. So I am looking at $700 with tax and everything to get it retuned.

FUGITABOUDIT! For that much, I can be 70% of the way to my haltech.

I've dropped an e-mail off to Alpine to see if they are interested in paying for the re-tune, but I can guess what their response is going to be(hell no!).

So sorry folks. I was hoping to #1...show what a properly tuned Uni-Chip can do, and #2, have a fully tuned and happy Turbo Tibby for SEMA...but It looks like neither is going to happen.

I also learned that the Uni-chip CAN NOT handle 4 larger injectors to replace the 4 stock injectors and 5th injector setup like the first guy I talked with claimed. The Uni-Chip is just like a S-AFC. It can control fuel delivery in small/moderate ammounts and timing in small moderate ammounts, but it cannot handle injectors that are twice the size of the stockers at idle....*cry*

So, I have no choice now but go full Haltec or wait for Tecmotive to come up with their Tec-III setup, or buy a the Tec-II....

This also sort of precludes Yamaneko's supercharger from being tuned right...unless alpine agrees to foot the bill for $700.

That really sucks. I was planning on using the unichip because I figured I didn't need the haltec and could save some dough on using the unichip. I guess not.

Are you going to wire it up yourself or have a shop do it?

I'm going to wire it up myself, but I will still need a shop to do the tuneing.

guilty- I did read that post from Cheuk, and I'm waiting to hear back as to how his tuning goes, but he is on a honeymoon. I hope to see him at SEMA and maybe get an update.

The $149 dyno is not a normal dyno, but a full one hour dyno load test of the engine. They record all sensors/settings and they use that to make their base map adjustments, then throw it back on the dyno for the fine tuning.

I'm still going to wait to hear back from Apline, but I can pretty much guess what they are going to say....
