I'm in the middle of doing my clutch, and have swapped the old clutch and flywheel. Right now, getting the transmission on is being a bear. There's a 1/4 inch gap around the whole tranny, and it doesn't want to go any further. I checked the throwout bearing alignment before installing it onto the release fork. Should it bolt right up? I thought it would all slip right together. Thanks in advance!

as long as you have the TOB bearing on the shaft, and correctly inserted into the fork, AND the clutch disc is aligned in the middle of the pressure plate, and you still have this problem, just jiggle the tranny, your only a 1/4 inch, just keep pushing.

also ensure that you put the clutch disc on correctly, ive heard stories of people putting it in backwards.

dont be gentle jiggle the shit out of it, also rotate the tranny slightly on the same axis as the shaft, so the teeth from the shaft line up with the disc.

It's on, but I have no reverse. All I hear are the synchros whining. I think it's a cable that needs adjusting.

When I did mine, I had a problem because I didn't put the washers back on the spring for the shift selector lever. It wouldn't let me go into reverse.

Everything is all together and working. Hooray!! smile.gif

Ended up putting all the bolts back into the bellhousing and tightening them down a little at a time. Everything was aligned. Maybe the throwout bearing hadn't snapped into the pressure plate, and was keeping the trans from wiggling back on that 1/2 cm. I don't know, and am frankly too tired after 2 days of working on it to care.

DTN, my trans wouldn't go into reverse the first time I tried it. Turned out the hydraulics still had an air pocket in them. mad.gif

^^ Dude, at least you got everything right the first time. Last time I did mine, I ended up pulling off my bell housing 3 times because of my buddy breaking shit.
