I get a whining or whirring when I'm speeding up or slowing down. I'm 98% positive it's comming frmo the transmission. I had a 2nd gear and synchro replaced last summer. Any bets on what needs to be replaced? What makes a tranny make these noises? My car has been feeling doggy lately.

Should have been replaced when they replaced the gear and should have been checked when I had my last oil change.

Some trannies make noise, thats the way they are. If the fluid is good in it, no metal chips in it, and it shifts smooth, then there isn't anything wrong with it.

Check the Manual transmission Oil.. Make sure it's the right one.

I'll bet you $100 that the person didn't check the Manual tranny fluid. Alot of oil change places will tell you that they checked it, but in real life, they didn't.

do you have any mods like a lightened flywheel or an underdrive pulley on your engine?

Many transmissions whine. does it do it when the car is in neutral and revved? (without your foot on the clutch)
