Ok, so about a week or so ago, I did almost a complete fluid flush - the radiator, thats soon to come shortly. But the problem is that when ever the tranny gets warm after driving when I let it set and cool down and it sits for a few hours when I go out and look under the car there is a small to medium puddle. Which makes me curious. Why would the puddle be different sizes? no matter what wouldnt it reach a max temp and then take the same ammount of time to cool especially with the tempurature out side being maybe a 10 degree varient from one day to the next? or even for a different ammount of time. I mean its not like it leaks other than when the tranny is warm, the only thing I can think is that I didnt replace the crush washer when I removed the drain plug and its leaking out there?

A pic of where the puddle is and where the leak is coming from would be better, but if you got under there to take the pic and you found the leak, you wouldnt have a question anymore huh. Id just jack the fugger up, and run it until it started leaking, and then fix it.

tranny fluid has a more distinctive (yucky) smell.

yeah, as alex mentioned... figure out exactly where the puddle is and trace it back up to the engine

if it is the tranny, more likely the output shaft seal is worn and will need to be replaced... btw, drivingtibnaked made a diy about it, that should help you out

touch the puddle, what color, oily?

I'm kinda betting by the way you discribe it that it's only leaking while cooling makes me think this is just a/c condensation.

So I got under the car after I drove it about half a mile down the road, I saw a little bit of fluid on the brace that runs from the front to the middle of the car. I was still not sure where it was leaking from. So I decided to drive the care for about a half hour or so to get the tranny warm because it wasnt leaking when I got up under it. The halfshaft seal on the drivers side it leaking, what a pita! Thats the same side of the car I had the halfshaft replaced. So now I gotta rip it appart drain all the tranny fluid. Well what is left in there and replace the half shaft seals, I might as well do both ds and ps cause if I didnt the other one would go bad right after I filled it back up with tranny fluid. So, anyone know how much of a pain the half shafts are to remove? The ones I did for the dodge neon were a pita cause you needed a special tool or a pry bar to remove them but the problem with that was the car needed to be high enough off the ground to get the pry bar in there. Im probably going to do this friday being im making a trip out to pa tomorrow to pick up a mustang, and I cant really do stuff on my own for a while cause I had an ingrown toenail removed, long story so much pain...
