I need to put a new tranny into my 97 FX and im planning on pulling it out of a 00. Father was looking around online for info on how to do it and he saw somewhere that the manual trannies in the 1st and 2nd gens were different? true or false? i am planning on making a 10 hour+ drive tomarrow if i can use the ones i have found. if not ummm gotta keep looking i guess. thanks everyone.

They have different gearing, but they still work. It might change your fuel milage for the better going to an 00 tranny.

Search this site and webtech.
The tranny will fit fine plug and play, but the gearing is different.
I've also read that the 01 tranny was changed the most, and the gearing is actually "worse" for racing? Don't quote me on that though...

Search!

should be direct bolt on.. just minor gearing differences ....

from my understanding mating a betaII tranny to a betaI motor requires minor modification.. since 00 is betaI you should have no problems
