Default torque

I noticed on my 97 i don't feel like i have low end torque compared to jaws. Jaws only has a Cai and 2.5 catback, where i have a warm air intake since mhp didn't send the other piece of the intake for a whole year, hve 4-1 header, 2.25 catback, and a unorthodox pulley. I notice that my top end feels more powerful since the pulley gets my rpm going. Could someone explain why, is it cause i don't have the other piece to make a cai. Oh by the way jaws see that symbol i have by my topic, that will be you this sunday:.)

Oh by the way are you going fot the autocross for sure this week?

"Eh, Yo! your going down and out"

"Pootang" I don't think it the torque that will beat you its the skillz

No autocross for me if its gonna rain, not gonna pay 20 bux to go slow around pylons.

Rain is good! It taks a fine fel of the pedals to be able to race in the rain, and often it seperates the top-rank contenders from the wannabes. Learn to like the rain...it can hand you plenty of wins if you know how to use a wet surface to your advantage!

I agree...go autocrossing in the rain. It is a real chance to prove how good of a driver you are.

The pully should raise the torque(and hp) across the whole rpm band, the warm air intake should also help down low as the shorter tube helps low end.

The 4-1 header might be hurting your low end.

Since you have a 1997...do you have the Fx 2.0L or the base model 1.8L? The displacement difference could be the difference.

Also, I've noticed the gen2's seem to dyno out higher, and perform better than the gen1 engines. There was a change in the block in June of 1999. I don't know what the change was/is.

The real answer would be to get both cars dyno'd and see how they compare.

We (me, pootang, and NeoTib) ran AutoX in the rain last week, a first for all of us, not just in the rain but our first AutoX ever. pootang managed to go off course for all 4 runs,... hehe tongue.gif wink
But we all had fun.
If it rains this weekend, I won't be doing it, I wanna do it when it's dry. Gotta improve that time

Random, a little birder told me the only change made in 1999 is that the gen 2s use a smaller crank.

perhaps this accounts for the higher dynos?

but I am also wondering, those 600hp engines, are they using new or older blocks.
