i just called hyundai service here in pusan and i ask how much it was. with the exchange rate as it is now its sitting at $220 parts and labor

Change the timing belt
Change the tensioners (both idler and tensioner)
Change the AC/Alternator/Power steering
Change water pump
Change new timing belt cover " top and bottom plastice"

and this is done by hyundai trained mechanic's but here they dont use the hourly rate system here, it is more or less by type of job

Yeah, I am not going to hyundai anymore, they're a bunch of creeps. My boyfriend can do anything for me for the price or the part and then i pay him later he knows what he's doing because he's an automotive major and works on cars 24-7. So, I dont really know too much about belts - would going to farm and fleet and buying a belt from there be ok or do you recommend anything?

Go to Good Year. I just got mine done for $212 which included the ALL belts. They also replaced my idler, tensioner, and installed my OBX underdrive for more.

^^ That is the cheapest I found locally. The timing belt itself was $45 or $50.

If you need help, send me a PM and I will supply my Phone number. I replaced my Tib's Timing belt not too long ago and have done many fiat/Lancias and even the belt on my old Excel twice.

do you need to put your car on a hoist to change the timing belt? or can it be changed on the ground?

On the ground. Now i got my car with a 100000 km's on it .. Is there anyway to chexk the old belt by looking at it to see if it's wore? Or it's been replaced? I have no records of anything in the glovebox so don't tell me to check there ..lol..

honestly, there is no way to check by looking if it is worn out. When I replaced mine, it still had the numbers stenceled onto the flat side. Generally, if you see your belt is worn, it is already too late and you are removing it from a junk engine.
