Throttle body plate question
I will soon bore out stock TB and IM. I think the maximum boring size-limit is 58mm. Anyway, I am not sure about this, but I believe that there is a plate inside throttle body (butterfly?). If I get my TB bored out, do I need to get new plate or is stock plate re-usable?
Thanks
Thanks
New plate--if the TB is larger, the plate will be too small, right? wink
Any shop that does the boring should be capable of cutting a new one. It's not really hard (a circle with a couple holes), but some places will try to charge a lot for it, others will include it with the quote for boring.
The max bore for the stock TB is 58mm, the max bore on the IM is a lot larger than than you'll have to worry about. smile.gif

The stock TB can only be bored out to 58mm. When this is done, the TB walls are only 1mm thick. If they do not bore 100% centered, you will have a nice paperweight.
The TB has a butterfly disc inside of it. it is not a round disc, and mounts to the TB shaft in a rather excentric way, it is not as easy as cutting a 58mm disc and slapping it in there.
Make DAMN SURE the shop doing this work for you knows what they are doing.
