well i noticed this a couple time. if i spin the tires in first then shift into second and give it gas the rpm slowly goes up but the car doesnt go anywhere. is the clutch slipping?| 103k on it

sure sounds like a slipping clutch to me!

If the clutch was bad the RPMs would go up, as the power is being made but its not being transferred to the wheels.

Its just that your car is slow.

ok hope that was a joke because i said in my 1st post the rpms do go up but theres no acceleration

its kinda weird tho, cuz you are able to spin your tires... it would be slipping there (in first) too

Once I was driving slowly, I pushed the clutch reved to 5K and then dropped the clutch, it did slipped much, RPM gows up and car had no acceleration. But since then I put on more than 20K miles (131K miles now) and it's on a stock clutch.

sounds like it.

I heard somewhere not sure if it is true or not but if you are at a stand still with the car in 2nd gear and you rev the car up and drop the clutch it will either catch or slip really badly, if it is slipping then the clutch is going.

I can remember trying to pull away from a stop in second once in my tib... the clutch slipped badly.. that was over 100 thousand miles ago... same clutch.
