Your clutch is WAY out of adjustment if you are not getting release when the pedal is the to the floor. The ONLY time my pedal goes all the way down is during startup when I HAVE to do it in order to get the starter to crank (that switch is soon getting taken care of)

The other day I was noting how I drove.. on normal driving when on the move.. I actually barely touch the clutch. I think I might press it down all of three or four inches when shifting. Perhaps this is one of the reasons I have such a good transmission and so many do not, my clutch is properly adjusted.

Yeah, if you gotta go all the way to the floor to get full contact you need it adjusted. Only takes a few minutes. I might push my clutch down 6 inches. You don't have to slam the clutch down to get it to shift. lol.gif

Sure I rev-match when I'm downshifting to more than 3000 RPM. Thats way too much of a jump to just let the clutch out. Daily driving, however, your only downshifting to maybe 2500. I'm not talking aggressive downshifting on a road course here. Your downshifting for maybe 500-600 RPM daily driving. Like if I'm approaching a railroad track in 3rd at 3000, I'll hit the brakes, and simultaneously go into second and let the clutch out (not dumping it, slowly). I'll hit 2300 in 2nd after I cross the tracks and continue on my way. There is no juddering or whatever your talking about. Sure its going to judder if you downshift into 3rd going 70, and just take your foot directly off the clutch.

There is no way in hell you can miss a gear in a Tiburon tranny. It practically goes into gear for you. It is one of the best transmissions in a newer car I've driven. Hop in a car like a STi and if your off by a touch, your going to miss a gear. Tiburon trannies, hell you could be off by a mile and it still go to where its supposed to go.

There is an onramp here on the Garden State Parkway.. exit 25 southbound into SomersPoint. I found if you drop the car to just below sixty entering it and do a quick rev matched downshift to second (which brings you to redline) you can go through the 90 degree decreasing radius turn at about 55 with no effort.. just watch for any dampness and the drains are recessed into the pavement.. so if you hang to the inside edge, you get bounced around some.. but it is a LOT of fun if you can get it JUST right.

And you are right, the Tranny in the Tib is one of the better feeling modern gearboxes out there.. I have tried out the STi And the Evo MR with their six speeds and found that the shift pattern is just a little too narrow and a little too vague for now narrow it is. I have not yet tried the GKs six speeder for feel yet
