QUOTE (SOCKS @ Mar 20 2008, 05:57 PM)
5th gear isnt needed on the track, unless its more than a 1/4 mile and no one runs a 1/2 mile.. 4th gear tops out over an amount that pretty much anyone on here is going to trap at. 4th tops out around 110 or so. which is good for ~12.5 which about 1% of the members are capable of.

eh, not all tracks are straight!

at the local circuit I'm redline 4th at the start/finish line, so 5th IS needed.

1/4 mile isnt the only form of track racing.

I would very much like to boost 5 gear!, Gary tried this and failed.,For my Highway driving, I'm scared to pass a car in 5th,I drop down to 4th which is usually overkill to pass a car lol, but i'm scared of gasing in 5th!

I have a 1997 Beta 1 Tiburon 2L...
If you can get some info on what material its made from that would be great....
Are you running the same gear set?
How much WHP can theese geas handle

I boost in 5th gear to 6-7 psi all day long at around 70-80mph.

Haven't been too worried about it, I will once I break a gear, lol.

With my 7500 rpm redline I get to 130-135mph on the dyno in 4th gear! (beta II trans).

How much boost/power are you guys putting down? Have any of you all broken 5th other than gary? I heard of 3rd going as well, any other gears shearing off other than those two?
