SR throttle body vs. Barney TB
I was just wondering before I sign up for the TB group buy....I am not one to go to the track, I just enjoy a good tuned ar and I like to take part in a few races here and there......so far my mods are a custom CAI, an exhaust system, PLat Bosch plugs, I have the "crank" pulley ordered from Unorthadox...which TB would be best for me?.....are there any big diffences?...any help would be greatly appreciated!......
do you have a FULL exhaust???
get 4-1 headers
high flow cat
2.5 or 2.25 pipes
and muffler
ditch the platinum plugs,... they are for longterm use and NOT performance use
you would do better with some nice champion or ngk copper plugs
keep them for now,... but next time you change the plugs,... get those
as far as differences,... i think the barney one is bigger,... but the SR one has the cruise control unit

"Barney" is adjustable bore...it comes with two rings that go inside to allow you to set the bore.
BOTH now have the double-pulley for cruise control.
SR throttle body has more of a "stock" look, and also comes with a new Throttle Position Sensor. You have to recycle the stock TPS if you go with the Barney. Not an issue performance-wise, but you have to be a little delicate with the TPS to get it off in one piece.

SR TB is definitely an improvement over stock. I don't know how much of a difference you'll feel from that specific one, because I bought the Barney one, and I did several mods all at once.
To gain the most out of your intake-side of the engine, you will want to get a CAI, a larger TB, and bore out your intake manifold. This will remove pretty much any restriction in the setup. There's a guy around here named Onpol that does intake manifold boring for pretty cheap. He does GOOD work, with a fast turnaround, too. If you're interested in getting this done through him, you can contact him at onpol@caribe.net

Just a question about boring out the intake manifold.
About how much would something like this run?
Is there any shops/garages in MN that might be able to do this?
I don't want to have to mail out the thing.
Z?
